Venezuela Earthquake Appeal
From January to March 2026, ACF implemented two sewage network rehabilitation activities in Gaza Governorate following extensive damage to sanitation infrastructure. The interventions targeted two severely affected streets (300-meter length and 137-meter length), restoring wastewater flow and reducing environmental and public health risks for surrounding communities.
To ensure continuity of water and sanitation services amid ongoing electricity shortages, ACF rehabilitated five generators (table 1) in April 2026. These generators are supporting the operation of critical WASH infrastructure and enhancing system functionality.
During the reporting period, ACF completed the rehabilitation of a desalination plant in Jabalia to restore access to safe drinking water for returnee populations. Works commenced in February 2026 and were finalized by the end of April 2026. The rehabilitated plant has a production capacity of 35 m³/hour and is expected to provide potable water to approximately 30,000 people every day. The intervention was implemented in close coordination with the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU) to ensure alignment with national water systems and sustainability of operations.
ACF procured 2,600 dignity kits to address the immediate hygiene and protection needs of vulnerable individuals. Distribution is currently ongoing and is expected to be completed by 6 May 2026, reaching a total of 2,600 individuals.(table 2)
