"These numbers are likely much higher today," Action Against Hunger, a U.S.-based nongovernmental organization, said in a statement on September 5. It added that Afghanistan was grappling with an "unprecedented but unseen mental-health crisis."

Since the campaign’s inception in 2011, Love Food Give Food has raised over £3.5 million. This year Action Against Hunger is hoping to raise over £200,000 with 174 restaurants taking part.
Since violent conflict in Sudan began on April 15, more than a million people have fled to neighboring countries, including approximately 378,000 Sudanese refugees and nearly 48,000 Chadian returnees to eastern Chad.
