Charting the next chapter for Canada’s global nutrition leadership

Action Against Hunger Canada and the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH) are excited to announce an upcoming report that will reimagine Canada’s role in global nutrition.

To inform this critical resource, the two organizations co-hosted a two-day retreat in Ottawa, convening leaders and experts from across the public, private, philanthropic, academic and civil society sectors, alongside in-country partners who traveled from around the world to contribute their expertise and perspectives. Among the diverse voices in the room was Canada’s Secretary of State for International Development, the Honourable Randeep Sarai, whose participation reflected a strong commitment across all levels of leadership to advance these shared goals.

The retreat provided space for open dialogue and strategic collaboration at a pivotal moment. With growing humanitarian needs, constrained budgets and shifting global priorities, participants focused on how Canadian nutrition actors can make the most efficient and impactful  use of our resources and safeguard Canadian investments to date, investing strategically to save lives, strengthen communities and sustain long-term impact in this new era.

The week also included a reception on Parliament Hill, generously hosted by Member of Parliament Yasir Naqvi, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade and to the Secretary of State for International Development, providing an opportunity to celebrate shared progress and reinforce momentum and shared commitment toward the work ahead.

Action Against Hunger Canada and CanWaCH extend their sincere thanks to all who contributed to this important dialogue.

The forthcoming report, to be released later this fall, will capture the insights,  recommendations and shared priorities that emerged and outline tangible policy and programmatic steps to strengthen Canada’s impact in global nutrition.
