The State of Hunger in Liberia
More than half of Liberians live below the poverty line. The 14-year civil war that ended in 2003 caused widespread suffering, and its impacts can still be seen today.
With very limited infrastructure and public services, the Ebola and COVID-19 epidemics devastated the health and economic status of many Liberians. Fewer than 10% of the population has access to clean water and safe toilets, and chronic malnutrition is a major public health issue.
