Women-Led Support Groups Provide Hope for Communities Facing Drought

Amid the Horn of Africa’s worst drought in 40 years, are women and girls, who are among those impacted most severely by the crisis. They are finding new ways to rely on each other and to tackle life-threatening burdens.

The women of the community located in Ltungai leave a few minutes to fill the 15-litre containers with water in a hole where the water is stagnant, between two rocks. The water is not drinkable, full of bacteria.
