Why Gardens?

Canada ranks 37th out of 41 wealthy nations in access to nutritious food for children. This is unacceptable.

Communities around the world and at home need gardens. This precious resource, in addition to the obvious nutritional benefits, empowers individuals, provides financial security, and reduces food insecurity.

OTHER WAYS TO TAKE ACTION

Sign the petition

I stand with Action Against Hunger Canada and other leaders in the food literacy field and call on education ministers and leaders across Canada to integrate food literacy education into school curriculum.
  • This petition will be presented to the Ministry of Education in each province, with the goals of incorporating food literacy and nutrition education into school curriculum. We also advocate for them to provide teachers with the resources that they need to adequately address the serious issues of food illiteracy, food insecurity, and malnutrition in their schools, and present our willingness to assist the Ministries, Board and schools with this endeavour.

By signing, you agree that Action Against Hunger can present your name and country publicly, to decision makers or others, on your behalf in support of this petition. You also accept Action Against Hunger’s privacy policy for petitions, which offers more details on how your data will be used and protected.

Gardens Take Action Against Hunger

Action Against Hunger uses gardens in our work across the world.

In our Nutrition & Health programs, we help the community grow communal edible gardens next to our treatment centres so that parents can have access to the fruits and vegetables they need for their families to have a balanced diet.

In our Food Security & Livelihoods programs, we help households grow kitchen gardens.
