It has been almost three weeks since Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, and the Canadian public is still giving. Due to the generous support of individual Canadians, the Canadian government has extended the deadline for matched funding until December 23. The Minister of International Development, Christian Paradis, made the announcement while in Sara, Philippines:

“As we approach Christmas, I encourage Canadians to keep donating to registered Canadian charities, and our government will match eligible donations, dollar-for-dollar, right up to December 23, 2013.”

We are grateful for the matched funding extension from the Canadian government as it adds two more weeks to collect donations and encourages Canadians to give as it extends further into the holiday season.

Funds are still badly needed to continue with the first stage of emergency life-saving response.  More funds will be needed for the second and third response phases of Emergency Recovery and Enhancing Living Conditions.

You can double your impact in the Philippines by donating before December 23 to Action Against Hunger Canada either by phone at 1-855-225-7138, by mail, or online.
