ACF Canada has hit many milestones in 2013 – from expanding our offices to Toronto, to launching our new website, to the success of our Love Food, Give Food campaign. It has also been a difficult year – the world experienced the Crisis in Syria, the Typhoon in the Philippines and the ongoing conflict in the Central African Republic. At the same time, we have been continuously reminded of the generosity and overwhelming support from our communities and from you.
The year is coming to an end, but we can’t stop now. Recently, four days of heavy rains have caused the displacement of over 10,000 people in Gaza. Action Against Hunger was quick to distribute food and hygiene kits to those who are displaced and began installing water pumps to lower the level of standing water, which could pose a serious threat to public health.
This shows us that conflicts and disasters can happen at any time, and that we need your support in order to act quickly to help those suffering from hunger around the world.
This holiday season, you can give a gift that saves a life. Here are different ways that your donation will help:
Save a child’s life by providing a full 45 day treatment of therapeutic food, enough to restore their health and secure their future.
Chickens are a staple of our food security and livelihoods programs because they provide families with a sustainable source of both food and income.
Dairy cows are also a staple of our food security programs because they can provide a family with years of nutritious milk and much-needed income.
We work with women who often encounter discrimination and violence. We bring local women together in support groups to learn how to combat gender inequality and advocate for their own rights. By supporting these womens’ groups, you are helping to empower women and strengthen communities around the world.
On behalf of everyone here at Action Against Hunger Canada, we would like to wish you and your family Happy Holidays and a healthy and cheerful New Year! See you in 2014!
