This Year’s Cause

Globally, it is estimated that 1 in 3 women experience violence, including physical and sexual violence. Women and girls are more vulnerable in times of emergency or crisis, impeding their ability to provide food for their children. This year, we are raising funds to help address gender-based violence in emergency settings, where women and girls are most vulnerable. This program will provide psychosocial support to women fleeing conflict and disaster, as well as safe and quiet spaces in refugee camps and other temporary spaces so mothers can feed and nurture their newborns and young children.

Help us end global hunger

Hunger is preventable and treatable. We know this because the number of hungry people has been halved since 1980. Yet, each year, more than two million children still die from hunger-related causes. Thankfully, Food for Action lives up to its name. Over the last four years, the generous guests of this event can be proud of what they’ve made possible:

What people are saying

“I’ve been covering humanitarian crises since the 1990s and have often been impressed by Action Against Hunger. The nightly news can seem overwhelming but remember there are effective ways to fight hunger and overcome poverty. With groups like Action Against Hunger, you can be part of the solution.”
– Anderson Cooper, Journalist, CNN

“Everyone just wants the chance to live good, decent lives, and to be seen and heard. You cannot be seen and heard until you are fed—first physically, then emotionally. I believe your legacy is every life you have touched. Thank you, Action Against Hunger, for showing the power of legacy for all of us. There’s a way in our lifetime to end hunger—that is what matters.”
– Oprah Winfrey
